Toihoukura: School of Contemporary Maori Visual Arts is entering its 20th year of operations. What started as a one year Maori arts and crafts programme has grown into a Diploma and a Bachelors – “Te Toi o Nga Rangi” – Maori Visual arts and design degree.

This exhibition at the Tairawhiti Museum is the highlight of the academic year, with the opportunity to show works and honor the years best student in the form of the Professor Jack Richards sponsored “Ruanuku” scholarship.

Toi ora, refers to thewellness and prosperous development that has taken place with Toihoukura over the last 20 years. This exhibition over the last 20 years. This exhibition brings the best examples of works by some of the leading artisits who are currently studying at Toihoukura.
