October 29, 2012

Philippa Jones, newly-appointed international director

Newly-appointed international director Philippa Jones moved from the UK to head EIT’s international marketing team.

Formerly head of international student recruitment at Anglia Ruskin University, she has also held international roles with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, a London-based global relocation services company and the University of Gloucestershire.

After completing a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Modern Chinese Studies at Leeds University, Philippa worked for seven years recruiting international students for the University of Birmingham.  She gained her Master of Arts in Pacific Asian Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.

Settling into her EIT role, she is impressed at the many nationalities encompassed by EIT’s student body – “we have international students enrolled from 41 countries worldwide.”

Philippa is developing EIT’s international strategy which includes a focus on further growth in international student numbers.  She will also consider how EIT might encourage the institute’s Kiwi students into learning opportunities overseas.
