Recruitment Process

Below we have outlined EIT’s recruitment process, from tailoring your CV, right through to being made an offer.

If you have any questions about our recruitment process, please do not hesitate to contact us at jobs@eit.ac.nz

Step One – Tailor your CV

Tailoring your CV is a very important part of applying for a job. Your CV is our first impression of you, so you need to know how to sell yourself through your CV. Here are some tips on creating a great CV:

  • List your name and contact details at the top of the first page.
  • Keep it brief and informative.
  • Maintain a consistent style.
  • Previous experience is the most important section – emphasise your achievements and show how you contributed to your employer’s business.
  • Ensure you have correct spelling and grammar.

Step Two – Apply online

To apply for a position with EIT, go to Jobs@EIT and apply for the position you are interested in online. This will take you to a page listing all of our current vacancies. If you wish to apply for a position, then all you need to do is register by clicking on Register Now, or log-in if you have registered with us before. Once registered, you will be able to apply online by selecting the position you wish to apply for and clicking Apply Online. Once you have applied online, you will receive an email notification letting you know we have received your application. If you have been unsuccessful, you will receive notification explaining this to you.

Step Three – Interviewing and Assessment

The interview process, will involve a panel of interviewers. You will be advised of who is on the panel before hand. It is important to prepare for an interview. Ensure that you know something about EIT, think about the questions you might be asked and perhaps do a mock interview with a friend. In some cases applicants may be asked to conduct a workplace test or related activity as part of the assessment process. You will be advised of this in advance.

Step Four – Reference checks

In your application you will be asked to identify referees who can comment on your suitability for the position. The manager will contact referees for the preferred applicant(s) and in some cases you may be asked for the names of additional referees.

Step Five -Offer

If you are our preferred candidate, then the manager will contact you directly to gauge your interest and discuss the key terms and conditions. If agreement is reached then Human Resources will send a formal written offer in the mail. You will be advised if you are unsuccessful after the interview.
