Student Mentoring

The Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Trades offers several kinds of academic and personal support to all students.

Student academic and personal mentoring:

1. Tutor led support is offered at drop-in lunchtime sessions where students can get academic or personal help including

  • Interpreting assessment tasks
  • Referencing
  • Reading skills
  • Personal study skills
  • Literacy skills

2. The tutor/mentor is also available to help with any academic or personal issue which is stopping a student from completing course requirements by initiating contact for the student with campus-wide support such as counselling and health services.

3. The Kuia for the school is available to all staff and students for help with any academic or personal issues relating to Māori tikanga and kawa

4. The Pasifika mentor offers support particularly to Pasifika students

EIT Pasifika mentoring is the provision of support to Pasifika students by a person/s of Pasifika ethnicity. It provides services to Pasifika students enrolled in programmes within the School of Education and Social Services, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Pasifika mentoring supports the learning development of Pasifika students.
