Outcomes

Cadets are employed full-time and study part-time over three years towards the National Certificate (Advanced Level 4).  Embedded in this qualification are a Level 2 and Level 4 Certificate that can be awarded along the way.  Block courses and tutorials delivered at EIT and on-job assessment, give a well-rounded understanding of the industry and the skills that are essential for viticulture.

• Tending and Training of Fruit Plants/Grapevines
• Agrichemical Usage
• Viticulture Machinery and Equipment
• Estimating vineyard yield
• Irrigation scheduling
• Botany
• Grapevine physiology
• Pest and disease control

Dates

Two entry points per year:

February and July

Duration

Three years part-time.  Classes are timed to try to avoid very busy periods on the vineyard.

	Students need to be employed in a viticultural business.  School leavers will be assisted in finding a placement. An interview may be part of the process.

	IELTS 5.0 General and good school records.  A New Zealand work permit is required.  Acceptance is subject to HITO (Horticulture) approval.
