Outline

The Postgraduate Certificate in Health Science is aimed towards qualified health professionals who wish to develop advanced practice skills.  Endorsements are available in:  Critical Care Nursing, Elder Health, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Child and Family Health, Health Services Management, Lactation and Breastfeeding, New Graduate Mental Health Nursing.

Course participants will be required to engage in significant independent learning and fieldwork and may be required to present case studies demonstrating expanded knowledge and skills.

A personal interview may be part of the application process.

The normal requirement for entry is;

  • An undergraduate degree in a health science with a B+ pass or better.  A minimum of two years clinical practice may be an advantage, or
  • Where the applicant may have less than a B+ average in his/her undergraduate degree, s/he may be provisionally accepted into the Master of Nursing.

Where an applicant does not hold an undergraduate degree in health science:

  • The applicant shall provide evidence of having completed a relevant professional qualification, and
  • Provide evidence of successful completion of a relevant qualification of study which is equivalent to those of first degree graduates, through the submission of a portfilio of evidence.
