Outline

Completion of the Postgraduate Certificate will enable graduates to develop advanced specialty skills in cognitive behaviour therapy within a range of in-patient, out-patient /community health and wellness focus settings. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is based on the premise that how people feel and behave is primarily the result of how they think (consciously and sub-consciously), and that it is possible to change feelings and behaviours by changing patterns of thinking. World-wide, CBT has become the treatment of choice for a variety of problems, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, personality disorders, pain management, adjustment to disability, anger management and addiction, and many others. This programme is offered over a nine month period and involves a combination of three, one week on-campus blocks undertaken in conjunction with practicum in the trainee's own work place.
