This programme is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge that provide a pathway into a career within an exciting road transport and logistics industry or a professional career as a truck driver. On completion students should have the skills to sit and pass both Class 2 Learners and Class 2 Licence.

The EIT Certificate in Introduction to Road Transport is a full-time, twelve week programme which enables graduates to pursue a professional career in the Road Transport or its associated support industries. This programme also enables students to achieve credits towards the National Certificate in Goods Service (Core Skills) with a strand in Forklifts (Level 2) and the National Certificate in Goods Service (Heavy Vehicle Driver) (Level 3).

 |  | NZ Citizens/Residents |  | | | The EIT Certificate in Introduction to Road Transport is an open entry programme. A high level of motivation and interest is required. A personal interview may be part of the application process. Students are required to provide evidence of a Police and Medical (Drugs and alcohol) test certificate prior to study beginning - as this is part of normal Industry and NZ Transport Agency policy. Students will also be required to: Have four NCEA Level 1 literacy credits and four NCEA Level 1 numeracy credits. Be able to demonstrate the ability to drive a vehicle with a manual transmission. Hold a Land Transport NZ Class 1 Drivers Licence for more than six months prior to the start of the programme. Hold a current Land Transport NZ DL9 Medical Certificate (provided by your medical practitioner). The medical certificate is a requirement for the Land Transport NZ Class 2 Drivers Licence. Students must be medically fit to be able to perform the duties of a truck driver with no obvious muscular or back defects. (A drug-free test is required by the Industry).
