The Students´ Association exists primarily as an advocate of student issues and representative to the various councils and boards of EIT Hawkes Bay. The Association promotes the social, cultural, recreational and intellectual interests and welfare of students on campus.

The President and Vice President are elected in August, and the Executive are elected in March. The executive is made up of two student members from each faculty, plus one representing disabled students and one international student and one Student Residential Village representative. In addition to this, each class elects a class representative.

The Association employs staff to look after the day to day running of the office and assist in providing the following services: ID cards, second hand book sales, student discount, grants and sponsorship, loan of sports equipment, notice boards, phone cards, accommodation listings, student magazine, social activities on and off the campus, student amenity block and a sympathetic ear. The Student Association has the only EFTPOS cash out facility on Campus.
