Biography
Formerly the Head of the departments of Maori and Native Studies at the Universities of Canterbury, New Zealand, and Saskatchewan, Canada, respectively and a member of the Waitangi Tribunal enquiry into the claim to Indigenous Flora and Fauna and Intellectual Property. Research interests include urbanization and Indigenous peoples, Maori/Native Studies as an academic discipline, post-treaty settlement governance and development, the construction of contemporary indigenous identities, and Indigeneity as a global social movement. As an indigenous scholar I am committed to the advancement of Indigenous Peoples worldwide.
