Bio

Steve started his professional life in the Royal New Zealand Air Force, specialising in telecommunications systems. This career took him on many exciting operational missions overseas. The most intensive being several years in Singapore and the Sinai Desert (Israel) with an International Peace Keeping Force of 5,000 servicemen and women. After 10 years Air Force service, Steve moved onto the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then the commercial world and became involved in Corporate ICT projects. This quickly evolved into a fascination with Project Management processes and leading project teams, which took him around the world on many interesting assignments. After graduating with his MBA with distinction in 1998 from the Henley University of Reading in London, Steve accepted an offer to be Henley’s online eTutor for two Project Management MBA electives. He facilitated these electives daily to an international academic audience of more than 7,000 MBA students for 12 years while Henley were operating in New Zealand.

Concurrent with this, he managed ICT projects, lectured Project Management to students in South Africa, Singapore, The University of Auckland, and more recently Business Management Theory at NorthTec, Whangarei.

Steve lectures Business Management subjects at the Eastern Institute of Technology’s Tairàwhiti campus in Gisborne.

He is currently finishing and preparing his Doctoral thesis for formal external assessment. For the last four years, he has been researching if crucible life experiences influence the development of leadership through adult experiential learning. His phenomenological research approach used case studies drawn from interviews with 20 leaders living in Northland, New Zealand.
