I trained as a Registered Nurse in the early 90’s and went on to work in Mental Health in Wanganui and Wellington. In 2000 I joined the Bachelor of Nursing team here at EIT.
In 2003 I was fortunate enough to travel to Kyrgyzstan where I worked for a year training Primary Health nurses. A year in the land of the “heavenly mountains” was just not long enough for me, so I decided to go back for a further 4 years! I worked with a community development team based in small rural villages with the aim of improving health and wellbeing and increasing quality of life.
Now that I am back at EIT I am enjoying using those skills I learnt while in Kyrgyzstan to train health promoters.
