Bio

Brian graduated as a geologist and spent many years working overseas before returning to New Zealand in 1983.  He and his wife purchased a kiwifruit orchard in Taradale.  Brian has since involved himself in the politics of the fruit industry.  National positions he has held include NZ Fruitgrowers Federation (Director), NZ Fruitgrowers Charitable Trust (Trustee), NZ Agrichemical Education Trust (Trustee) and Kiwifruit New Zealand (Director).

Much of Brian’s work has involved resource management issues and he was a member of the New Zealand Pesticides Board and other government committees.  It was logical therefore that his teaching areas would include horticulture, particularly environmental issues involving the use of agrichemicals.

Brian became a GROWSAFE Trainer in 1992 and is now one of the longest serving trainers in the country.  Most of his work is involved with training growers and farmers, rural supply and chemical company staff.  Much of his teaching is away from the Taradale campus.
