EIT and Star Food Service join forces to keep talent in the ‘Bay’

Napier-based Star Food Service Ltd has established a new scholarship to provide financial assistance for students enrolled in the EIT Hawke’s Bay Diploma in Professional Culinary Arts.

Titled “The Star Food Service Ltd Scholarship”, it consists of one scholarship valued at $1,500 awarded to a student enrolled in the January 2007 Stage One intake.

Star Food Service, a locally-owned fish supply and wholesale food distributing business, wanted to support the Hawke’s Bay community and economy.

Tim Claudatos, Managing Director of Star Food Service explained, “We wanted to get young people interested in tertiary training when they left school. Because of our close involvement with EIT, we thought this was a great way to encourage teenagers to consider tertiary education and help keep talent in the ‘Bay’”.

It is open to Hawke’s Bay and Dannevirke students aged 19 years and under, who have applied to join the Diploma programme.  Other criteria apply.

The two-year culinary arts programme teaches both classical and modern cooking methods and covers subject areas ranging from professional hospitality skills  through to kitchen management. It is a three-staged qualification with a work experience requirement.  Graduates achieve five internationally recognised City & Guilds qualifications developed to meet world-wide industry needs.

The time to enrol is now.  Stage one kicks off on 22nd January 2007.  Complete your Scholarship Application today!
