    This program is subject to approval

    The Diploma in Mental Health is designed for people who have already developed or wish to develop a higher level of competence in mental health support work than is covered by the National Certificate in Mental Health. These mental health support workers may have more seniority in the workplace, carry a higher level of responsibility, and engage in more complex relationships with consumers/tangata whai ora. They may also lead a team of mental health workers.

    • Under 20 years old: 50 credits at Level 2 NCEA in one year in 4 subjects, or sixth form certificate with 16 or less in 4 subjects.
    • Over 20 years: Motivation and commitment.
    • Preferred criteria National Certificate in Mental Health (Mental Health Support Work) Level 4.
    • All students will have an informal interview with the programme coordinator and/or lecturer before their enrolment is accepted.
    • English Language Entry Requirement Students are required to have attained an acceptable level of English language fluency. This may be demonstrated in a variety of ways, including successful study in English, approved scores on TOEFL or IELTS tests, completion of accepted international equivalents.
