Outline

Our English Language Training Scheme programmes are designed to help students to “Live the Language.”  You will learn practical and academic English skills, how to communicate with people in a variety of familiar and unfamiliar contexts, work to widen vocabulary knowledge and gain confidence in using English whatever your level.  You will be working alongside the students who are studying a New Zealand Certificate in English Language.

You will have access to a language laboratory, library facilities and computer suites to support your learning.  One-to-one tutorials are an integral part of the course in order for you and your tutor to monitor progress.  You can also sign up for further help at the library or with our International Mentor if required.

Twice a year we run a course focussed on speaking and listening skills .  You will study pronunciation, presentations skills, spontaneous and rehearsed speech, role play and listening for key information which will give you confidence in speaking to a variety of audiences.  Your assessment will also be focussed on speaking and listening skills.

You will be offered the chance (at an extra cost of $530) to take part in a field trip, accompanied by tutors.  Students on the field trip visit a major New Zealand centre and carry out project work.  There are a variety of activities such as museum and theatre visits, cultural experiences and visit sites of historical or environmental importance.  For more information about the field trip, click here.
