Te Marae o Te Whare Takiura
The marae complex is primarily a teaching facility for Maori language and culture courses. It is used on a daily basis as a classroom. The complex includes a whare wananga, kitchen, dining room and ablutions area.
Extensions to the kitchen and dining room have provided more extensive facilities, with the whare matoro being able to accommodate more people. The new facility can now seat up to 300 people, and has the capacity to host large groups of people during gatherings such as hui, conferences, lectures and manukorero - the Hawkes Bay Secondary Schools Maori Speech Competitions.
A computer suite and language laboratory with specialist equipment are available as well as a research facility, ”Awarua” Radio Kahungunu studios and offices are also located in the faculty. |
