EIT STUDENT SERVICES
EIT

The learning advisors provide free, high quality learning assistance to any student enrolled at EIT. This assistance may be provided to individuals or groups and is designed to help you gain maximum benefit from your study programmes. The learning advisors have a range of expertise in academic writing, mathematics, science and English for speakers of other languages.   There is a specialist ESOL tutor to help International students with their study programmes.  Advisors can also work with you to improve general study skills, time management, preparing for exams, etc.

The learning advisors are accessed through an appointment system. Appointments may be made at the Learning Hub reception or by phone or email.

Between 12-1pm at least one learning advisor is available for drop-in assistance for which no appointment is required.  Drop-ins run on a first-come, first-seen basis and are usually for a maximum of 10-15 minutes.

At the beginning of each semester and before major exams, our learning advisors hold workshops in study skills and exam revision/preparation. Again, these are free and there is no registration required to attend.

If you need help in a subject un which the learning advisors do not have expertise, for example, computer programming - then a subject specific tutor can be arranged.

Further details about the learning services can be obtained by contacting us or to make an appointment to see a learning advisor.

External Examinations at EIT

There are an increasing number of students who choose to study on-line, off-campus, distant or extra-mural through external organisations.

Students are sometimes expected to sit examinations that are conducted at another location.  EIT can provide you with a supervisor and a room for examinations or tests.

Following is information regarding our examination services.

We organise:

  • Room/s.
  • Supervisor/s.
  • Ensure exams are kept in a secure location (lockable cabinet).
  • Return the exam the same day (if exam is in the morning) or the next working day (if exam is in the afternoon or weekend).
  • Your  Institution/Organisation usually provides a self addressed (Pre-paid) courier bag with the examination, which is our preferred option in returning examinations.
  • We ensure supervisors receive the supervisor procedure (sent by organisations) and we are available if she/he has any queries during exams (Mon-Fri).
  • If required, we provide Institution/Organisation or students with a location map (room).

After the exam we will organise an invoice that will be sent to the organisation or to the student depending on who is covering the cost. We ask that you please allow 3 weeks' notice with examinations, to allow for preparation.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any queries.
