The Faculty of Health & Sport Science is well-known for the quality of its education and training for health professionals and allied health fields. For nearly thirty years, EITs nursing programmes have been recognised for their innovation, learning environment and quality of graduates. The Faculty's Clinical Arts and Technology Centre project received a national award for excellence in 2000. The Master of Nursing programme, preparing the advanced practitioners of tomorrow, is considered progressive and futuristic and enjoys a high levels of student satisfaction (NZQA Monitors report, 2004). The success of graduates of the Bachelor of Recreation and Sport Science, and Bachelor of Nursing along with the range of health professionals engaged in postgraduate programmes have contributed to EITs reputation as a provider of high quality programmes. The Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science offers a range of multi-disciplinary options for further study.
Practical hands-on skills and sound theory underpin our programmes. The Certificate in Sport & Health Massage, Diploma in Therapeutic & Sport Massage, and Diploma in Recreation & Sport are enormously popular.
The Diploma in Beauty and Body Therapy is another such programme. Students learn in a state-of-the art clinic, and can work not only towards an EIT diploma, but also the international CIDESCO qualification.
Other programmes include the National Certificate in Community Support, Hauora Certificate, Certificate in Mental Health, and Certificate in Foundation Studies for Nursing, Recreation & Sport Science.
