Faculty research activity reflects the wide variety of its programmes. Staff teaching on the Visual Arts and Design (VAD) degree produce painting, drawing, print, craft and design works for solo and group exhibitions; the Performing Arts have staff active in productions for voice and stage. Those on the Applied Social Science programmes in Social Work, Counselling and Psychotherapy (BASS degree) are developing research topics related to the courses they are teaching; both Adult Education and Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma programmes have staff interested in projects connected to their teaching work. Many staff are currently undertaking postgraduate studies.

The faculty has a Research Mentor to support staff in undertaking research projects. Assistance is provided in finding a topic, reviewing literature; help in ethics applications, methodology or analysing and writing results. Every semester the faculty sponsors research seminars, hosting academics with expertise in various fields that can be shared with staff and students as part of fostering a research culture.
